About the Competition
In January 2026, The Lawscape organized the National PIL Drafting Competition, inviting law students to step into the shoes of a public-spirited citizen. The competition was designed to encourage students to draft a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on issues of public importance or constitutional relevance, letting their words echo the ideals of the Republic.
The core motto of the event was: “Draft for Justice. Write for the Republic.”
Eligibility
The competition was open to:
- All law students (Undergraduate & Postgraduate).
- Recent law graduates.
- Note: Participation was restricted to individuals only.
Themes & Topics
Participants were required to draft a PIL on any issue of Public Importance or Constitutional Relevance, covering areas such as:
- Social Issues
- Environmental Causes
- Digital Rights
- Governance-based Issues
